New Delhi, 2 January. The year 2025 was memorable for the Indian women’s cricket team. On 2 November, India defeated South Africa to win the ODI World Cup, marking the team’s first ICC title. The year 2026 could also be historic and significant for the Indian women’s team.

Having won the ODI World Cup for the first time in 2025, the Indian women’s team now has an opportunity to win their first T20 World Cup in 2026. The tournament is scheduled to be held in England from 12 June to 5 July. If the Indian team succeeds in winning the T20 World Cup as they did in the ODI format, it will be a landmark achievement.

The 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup will be the 10th edition of the tournament. Australia has been the dominant team with six titles in the previous nine editions. England, West Indies, and New Zealand have won the title once each. India’s best performance in the T20 World Cup came in 2020 when the team reached the final but lost to Australia. Additionally, India has reached the semi-finals in 2009, 2010, and 2018.

The Indian men’s Under-19 cricket team also has a chance for a major achievement in 2026.

The Under-19 World Cup will be played from 15 January to 6 February 2026. After failing to meet expectations in the Under-19 Asia Cup under captain Ayush Mhathre last year, the team looks set to aim for the World Cup title in 2026. Players like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhathre will be closely watched during the tournament.

This will be the 16th edition of the Under-19 World Cup. India is the most successful team in this category with five titles, while Australia follows with four.
