Mumbai, December 2: Indian women’s cricket team all-rounder Deepti Sharma is currently at the peak of her career. With her powerful batting and lethal bowling, Deepti helped India win the 2025 World Cup and was named the tournament’s best player. She emerged as the most expensive player in the Women’s Premier League 2026 auction. Speaking at an event in Mumbai, Deepti said the high price tag doesn’t put any additional pressure on her.
Speaking to the media, Deepti Sharma said, “When you get such a high bid and somewhere in your mind you know that so many people are watching you, then you have to perform well for your franchise. The high price doesn’t create pressure on me, but motivates me to do well. I always like facing difficult situations, giving my best for the team and enjoying that moment.”
Deepti Sharma remained part of UP Warriorz from 2023 to 2025. She was also the team captain in the previous season. Before the next season, UP Warriorz had released her. At that time, there was discussion about how the team could release such a big all-rounder. In the auction for Women’s Premier League 2026, UP Warriorz used RTM for Deepti Sharma and acquired her for Rs 3.20 crore. Deepti Sharma is the first player in Women’s Premier League history for whom RTM was used.
Deepti has been among the best performing players for UP Warriorz in the last three seasons. In 25 matches across three seasons, Deepti has scored 507 runs and taken 27 wickets.
The veteran all-rounder’s high price is also due to her excellent performance in the 2025 World Cup. Deepti Sharma was the most successful bowler with 22 wickets in 9 matches. She also scored 215 runs in 7 innings of 9 matches.
