Mumbai : Heavy rains have been lashing several districts of Maharashtra since Monday morning. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Sindhudurg district for today, while a yellow alert has been issued for Vidarbha. Due to the rains, waterlogging has occurred in Vasai-Virar areas of Palghar.
The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in the state for the next three to four days. Heavy rains with thunderstorms and winds at an average speed of 50-60 kmph are expected in Konkan. An orange alert has been issued for Ratnagiri today and there is a possibility of more than 100 mm of rain in some places.
Similarly, a red alert has been issued for Sindhudurg today and fishermen have been appealed not to go into the sea. Heavy rains have also been warned in some places in many districts of Konkan and Western Maharashtra. Heavy rains are expected in Kolhapur and Satara. Light rains are expected in many districts of Marathwada today. A yellow alert has been issued for entire Vidarbha today with possibility of widespread rains with thunderstorms.
Rains have been occurring in Mumbai city since this morning. Life has been affected due to rains in Dadar, Kurla, Andheri, Ghatkopar, Colaba, Bandra. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains with strong winds at a speed of 40-50 kilometers per hour in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad areas. It rained for an hour in Kalyan-Dombivli this morning.
