Heavy Rain

Jodhpur, 1 September (Kiran News). Continuous heavy rainfall since Sunday night brought life to a standstill in Jodhpur, with intermittent showers continuing into the morning. According to the Meteorological Department, the city recorded 72 mm (about 3 inches) of rain by 8:30 am.

Heavy Rain

Due to the downpour, the District Collector immediately ordered closure of all government and private schools across Jodhpur district. All Chief Block Education Officers were instructed to ensure compliance with this order in their respective areas.

Severe Waterlogging and Traffic Disruptions

The incessant rain caused severe waterlogging in several parts of the city. Banad Road, Ramzanji ka Hatha, Sardarpura, Chopasni Road, Nehru Park, and routes from Chandpol to Soorsagar were all affected, disrupting traffic flow. Mathuradas Mathur Hospital, areas around the railway station, and Shastri Nagar also experienced significant water accumulation.

Major city roads remained submerged, making movement difficult for residents. The rainfall would pause briefly, allowing for some drainage, but would resume soon after. In response, the administration and municipal corporation remain on alert mode. Many private schools had already started notifying parents about closures early in the morning due to the ongoing rain.

Hospitals and Railway Station Flooded

The overnight rain left Jodhpur waterlogged. Fortunately, as most of the rain occurred at night, there was less public movement. Despite ongoing drainage efforts, city streets saw water levels reach 1–2 feet in some places. Both Mathuradas Mathur and Mahatma Gandhi hospital campuses were flooded, with water accumulating at their main entrances. The railway station, both inside and out, also saw significant waterlogging.
