Heatwave Alert in Madhya Pradesh: Mercury Soars Above 42°C in Several Districts
Bhopal, April 16 The scorching summer heat has returned to Madhya Pradesh, with the Meteorological Department issuing a heatwave alert for several districts starting today. As maximum temperatures cross 42°C in parts of the state, weather officials have warned residents to brace for rising mercury levels and dry conditions over the coming days.
Heatwave Conditions Likely in Gwalior, Chambal, and Indore Regions
From Wednesday, Gwalior, Chambal, Indore, and Ujjain divisions are expected to face intense heat, with Loo winds forecast in Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Guna, Sheopur, and Shivpuri districts. Daytime temperatures are projected to hover between 40°C to 45°C, while nighttime lows could remain around 20°C to 23°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that no rainfall is expected in most parts of the state until April 18. However, light rain or drizzle may occur in isolated locations in eastern districts like Jabalpur, Rewa, and Shahdol divisions.
Tuesday Sees Record Highs in Ratlam and Other Cities
On Tuesday, Ratlam’s Sailana area recorded the highest temperature in the state at 42.2°C. Light rainfall was also reported in some parts of Ratlam. Other high temperatures included:
