Barabanki, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : The health department in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, is on high alert after five cases of swine flu were reported. Among the infected individuals is a jail officer. All patients are currently receiving treatment in Lucknow, and their conditions are reported as stable.
Dr. Lav Gupta, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Barabanki, emphasized the department’s seriousness regarding the outbreak. “We are fully prepared, and medications are available at all Community Health Centers (CHCs),” he stated. Additionally, arrangements for vaccinations at the district hospital have been made. All doctors’ leaves have been canceled, and necessary advisories have been issued.
Dr. Gupta reassured the public, urging them not to panic, as the symptoms resemble those of a common flu. He advised people to avoid crowded places, use handkerchiefs and masks, and take extra precautions, especially if they exhibit symptoms like cough or cold.
He provided details on the cases, noting that two patients were found in the Bindaura and Urban Barabanki areas, both under observation and receiving treatment. Their conditions are stable, but they are being closely monitored. Two additional patients from Haidargarh and Daryabad, who reside in Lucknow, are also undergoing treatment, with their conditions reported as stable. A new case has emerged in Masouli, prompting an investigation by health teams, who will also check individuals who have been in close contact.
Dr. Gupta confirmed that the district administration has issued advisories to the public. Separate wards for swine flu patients are being organized at the district hospital and all CHCs. Testing and treatment facilities are available for anyone showing symptoms of fever, cough, or cold that may indicate swine flu.
