Hardik Pandya Faces New Injury, Will Miss ODI Series Against Australia A

Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will not participate in the upcoming ODI series against Australia A due to a new injury setback.

New Delhi, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : Hardik Pandya, the star all-rounder for India, will miss the upcoming ODI series against Australia A starting October 6 due to a new injury. This latest setback comes as he has been struggling with injuries for an extended period.

According to reports from Cricbuzz, Pandya’s participation in the five-match T20 series in New Zealand is also in jeopardy. He is currently dealing with a shin injury, which involves pain and swelling in the lower leg. Throughout his rehabilitation process, Pandya has faced numerous challenges with recurring injuries. He was expected to play in the ODI series against Afghanistan in June, but a quadriceps strain during training at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru sidelined him.

Pandya’s selection for the series against Australia A hinged on his fitness clearance. However, with less than two weeks until the first ODI, his plans to return to the field have once again been derailed. His last T20 International appearance was in March during the World Cup final in Ahmedabad, while his most recent ODI match was in March 2025 during the Champions Trophy final. Despite participating in 10 out of 14 matches in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), he has not played any competitive cricket since then.

Pandya’s ongoing injury issues have raised concerns for the Indian cricket team, particularly with the ODI World Cup scheduled for 2027. He is considered a key player for the team, especially given his impressive track record in ICC tournaments. During the T20 World Cup 2026, he scored 217 runs at a strike rate of 160 across nine matches, also taking crucial wickets with the ball.
