Chandigarh, April 5 : Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar tabled a resolution in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday, staking claim to Chandigarh. The House urged the central government not to take any steps that would disturb the existing balance and to maintain harmony till all the issues emanating from the reorganisation of Punjab are settled, the resolution said. The House also urged the Centre to take measures for the construction of the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal in compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court. It also objected to the recent resolution passed by the Punjab government, demanding the transfer of Chandigarh to Punjab. “This is not acceptable to the people of Haryana. Haryana continues to retain its right to the Capital Territory of Chandigarh,” the resolution said. DB RKM
