Gujarat Titans Captain Shubman Gill Reflects on Victory Over SRH

Ahmedabad, May 13: In a thrilling IPL 2026 match at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs. This victory marked GT’s fifth consecutive win, propelling them to the top of the points table. Captain Shubman Gill expressed his delight and credited the bowlers for their outstanding performance.

After the match, Gill stated, “We knew that scoring 170 on this wicket would be challenging. Our bowling was exceptional. We had a clear plan going into the match, and we executed it perfectly. Our powerplay bowling was particularly effective.”

Gill praised Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, saying, “I believe both played brilliantly. Without their contributions, reaching 170 would have been tough.”

On reaching the top of the table, Gill remarked, “This success is due to our consistent performance. We are not a team that plays a specific style or brand of cricket. We aim to be a team that assesses the wicket and conditions and plays accordingly.”

Regarding Jason Holder, Gill noted, “He is a very experienced player, and the lengths he is hitting are fantastic for us. Holder has bowled four overs in almost every match. It’s not easy this season, but he is doing exceptionally well for us.”

In terms of match performance, Gujarat Titans batted first after losing the toss, scoring 168 runs for 5 wickets, thanks to Sai Sudharsan’s 61 and Washington Sundar’s 50 runs.

Chasing a target of 169 runs, the batting lineup of Gujarat Titans faltered, collapsing to 86 runs in just 14.5 overs, resulting in an 82-run defeat.

For GT, Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs, while Jason Holder also claimed 3 wickets for just 20 runs in 4 overs. Prasidh Krishna added 2 wickets for 23 runs in 3 overs. Siraj and Rashid each took 1 wicket. Rabada was named Player of the Match.
