Gandhinagar, May 17: Gujarat’s Health Minister, Praful Pansheriya, has ordered stringent action against a pharmacist accused of negligence towards patients. This decision comes in response to reports that, despite sufficient stock in the state’s health system, patients were allegedly not receiving their medications.
According to the health department, the minister took the allegations seriously and instructed officials to conduct an immediate investigation. The Gujarat government reiterated that any negligence in matters concerning patient welfare and health services will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Officials reported that the investigation revealed adequate stock of medications available in Gandhinagar. However, despite this availability, many patients reportedly did not receive essential medicines, leading to complaints about the staff’s performance.
Based on the preliminary investigation findings, Prashant Shrimali, a junior pharmacist stationed in Visnagar, has been transferred with immediate effect. The department has also initiated a departmental inquiry against Shrimali to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure accountability.
Health department officials stated that this action reflects the state government’s commitment to maintaining accountability and discipline within the public health system. They further emphasized that strict measures are being implemented to ensure patients visiting government hospitals and health centers receive medications and treatment without any inconvenience.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to providing timely and quality health services to citizens across Gujarat. Officials noted that the uninterrupted supply of medications and proper distribution in government medical centers remains one of the top priorities for state administration.
They also warned that any form of negligence, disregard, or misconduct by health personnel that affects patient care will face strict disciplinary action in the future. Health officials reiterated that patient welfare and efficient health service delivery are central to the Gujarat government’s health policies and administrative priorities.
