Gandhinagar, May 15: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has mandated daily monitoring of petrol and diesel stocks through a control room. He instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply across the state.
These directives were issued during a cabinet meeting chaired by Patel in Gandhinagar on Friday, following a review of fuel availability and supply systems in the state.
Government spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani stated that the Chief Minister has directed officials to closely monitor fuel stocks daily and maintain adequate supply to prevent any inconvenience to citizens.
After reviewing the available petrol and diesel reserves in the state, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for daily monitoring through the control room and ensuring supply as required.
This decision comes amid rising concerns about fuel availability in various parts of the country, following geopolitical tensions in West Asia and recent rumors of fuel shortages.
Last month, panic buying triggered long queues at several petrol pumps in Gujarat due to social media messages, although officials and oil companies assured that fuel reserves were sufficient.
The central government has repeatedly stated that there is an adequate supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG available nationwide.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas previously announced the establishment of a control room to monitor the supply and stock status of petroleum products across the country.
According to the central government, state governments are expected to play a crucial role in monitoring supply conditions and preventing hoarding or black marketing of essential goods, including petroleum products.
