Govt schemes empowered crores of farmers: PM

New Delhi, April 10 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that Kisan Samman Nidhi and other schemes in the agricultural sector are giving new strength to crores of farmers. Giving out figures, he said that Rs 1.82 lakh crore rupees directly reached the accounts of 11.30 crore farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. “The country is proud of our farmer brothers and sisters. The more empowered they are, the more prosperous the New India becomes. I am happy that the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and other schemes related to agriculture are giving new strength to crores of farmers of the country,” he said in a tweet in Hindi. Lauding the scheme, the Prime Minister said that Rs 1.30 lakh crore have been transferred into the accounts of farmers under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme during the Covid pandemic specially benefitting the small farmers. The Prime Minister also highlighted other features of the scheme. In graphics, the PM said that the scheme provides Rs 1 lakh crore loan facility for development of agriculture related infrastructure in the country. The government has sanctioned loan facility of Rs 8,585 crore for 11,632 projects. He said that the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi has become a big support for the farmers of India. “Every installment is provided to everyone on time, thousands of crores of rupees are transferred every year, without middlemen, without any commission. Earlier, nobody could have imagined that India would be able to do so. Small farmers are buying good quality seeds from this amount, using good fertilizers and equipment,” he said. ASU ACL1000
