New Delhi, April 25: The government announced on Saturday that deliveries of LPG gas based on Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) have surged by over 94.5% to combat illegal gas diversion. Additionally, online LPG cylinder bookings across the industry have nearly reached 99% as of Friday.
Since April 1, 2026, more than 1.863 million 5-kilogram FTL cylinders have been sold. On Friday alone, approximately 80,000 small 5-kilogram cylinders were sold nationwide.
The Ministry of Petroleum reported that since April 3, 2026, public sector oil and gas companies (OMCs) have conducted over 8,770 awareness camps for 5-kilogram FTL cylinders, resulting in the sale of more than 138,000 cylinders.
On Friday, 5,717 5-kilogram FTL cylinders were sold through over 230 camps.
Furthermore, during April (up to April 24), a total of 155,524 metric tons of commercial LPG have been sold, equivalent to over 81.85 lakh 19-kilogram LPG cylinders.
Since the beginning of 2026, over 536,000 PNG connections have been gasified, with infrastructure prepared for an additional 261,000 connections, bringing the total to 797,000 connections.
The ministry noted that approximately 605,000 customers have registered for new connections. As of April 24, more than 42,280 PNG consumers have surrendered their LPG connections via the website.
Consumers have been prioritized, ensuring 100% supply for domestic PNG transport and CNG transport.
Companies such as IGL, MGL, Gail Gas, and BPCL are offering incentives for domestic and commercial PNG connections. Requests have been made to expedite necessary approvals from states/union territories and central ministries for the expansion of the CGD network.
