Government Launches Swasth Bharat Portal to Integrate Digital Health Services

New Delhi, May 6: The government has officially launched the ‘Swasth Bharat Portal’ to consolidate various national health programs onto a single platform. This initiative aims to streamline digital health services across the country.

Designed as an API-based aggregator platform, the portal will bring together disparate systems and scattered datasets. This integration will enhance resource utilization and eliminate the need for repetitive data entry.

All health services will now be accessible from one digital platform, improving operational efficiency and coordination between different applications. The portal will host multiple national health schemes under a unified interface, resolving issues related to frequent logins and data entry, thereby accelerating workflow.

Frontline health workers in India, including ASHA workers, auxiliary nurse midwives, community health officers, and medical officers, previously relied on various apps for reporting, which was time-consuming. The new portal addresses this challenge by providing all services in one place. It also includes specialized tools for data visualization and analysis, enabling better planning at the local level.

The platform is aligned with the ‘Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’ and is linked to the ‘Ayushman Bharat Health Account,’ ensuring that patients’ health records are secure and easily shareable.

Future developments will expand this portal into a comprehensive digital health system, incorporating national databases such as health professionals’ registrations and health facility registries.

According to the Ministry of Health, the portal is expected to reduce infrastructure costs by approximately 20 to 30 percent and decrease data entry workload by nearly 40 percent, alleviating the burden on staff.

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda launched the portal during the 10th National Summit on Innovation and Inclusion. This modern technology-based system will facilitate better coordination among various services and ensure faster, secure data exchange.

Currently, separate servers and resources are used for different programs, but the new portal will integrate these, reducing costs and enhancing operational effectiveness. The statement emphasized that this portal will bring significant changes to the country’s public health system and aid in making informed decisions.
