New Delhi, May 7: The government has introduced a QR-based digital health platform named ‘Janani’ to strengthen the monitoring and tracking of maternal and child health services. This information was disclosed in an official statement released on Thursday.
According to the government, this platform will digitally secure and organize health records for women during their reproductive years. It will encompass services such as pre-pregnancy care, labor preparation, childbirth, postnatal care, newborn care, home-based care for infants and young children, and family planning.
The new system is developed as an advanced version of the existing RCH portal. It aims to create a comprehensive health record by securely maintaining crucial records related to health services throughout the care process.
The government stated that this platform will assist in continuous monitoring, timely intervention, and ensuring better health services at every stage.
A key feature of the platform is the QR-based digital maternal and child health card, which allows health records to be easily accessible and usable anywhere.
Additionally, the platform includes features such as automatic alerts for high-risk pregnancies, a real-time dashboard, and a list of essential cases, facilitating timely monitoring and necessary actions.
The ‘Janani’ platform is also integrated with national platforms like U-WIN and Nutrition, making data sharing and beneficiary tracking across various schemes more efficient.
This platform allows for beneficiary registration through unique identification methods such as ABHA, Aadhaar (OTP and biometric), and mobile numbers. It also provides a facility to search records nationwide.
The new system will ensure continuity of health services for the migrant population and prevent duplicate entries of records. Furthermore, self-registration through web and mobile platforms is available, enabling individuals to take an active role in their health management.
The statement noted that the ‘Janani’ platform will also aid in timely planning and monitoring of pregnancy check-ups and vaccinations. Alerts and reminders for essential health services will be sent to ensure no critical health phase is overlooked.
Moreover, it will provide a digital maternal and child health card, information on nearby health centers, potential delivery locations, and guidance on health education and nutrition.
According to the government, 13.4 million beneficiaries have registered on the ‘Janani’ platform so far. Additionally, over 3 million pregnant women have registered, more than 3 million maternal and child health cards have been issued, and over 100,000 biometric verifications have been completed.
