Mumbai, August 12: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has made history with the development of Gorakhpur district. In the NITI Aayog’s ABP (Aspirational Block Program) rankings, Gorakhpur’s Bangsgaon block has been declared ‘Number One.’ This achievement comes with a reward of ₹1.5 crore. The success of Bangsgaon block has elevated the pride of Gorakhpur and the entire state of Uttar Pradesh across the nation.
District Magistrate Deepak Meena and Chief Development Officer Shashwat Tripurari attribute this remarkable achievement to the inclusive development initiatives guided by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In the delta rankings for the January-March 2026 quarter, Bangsgaon block secured the top position in Northern India (Zone-2).
This information was conveyed in a letter from NITI Aayog’s Chief Executive Officer Nidhi Chhibber to the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. In recognition of this outstanding accomplishment, Gorakhpur has received a prize of ₹1.5 crore. District Magistrate Deepak Meena explains that the NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Block Program focuses on enhancing the quality of life for citizens through inclusive development. It evaluates aspirational blocks based on 39 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across five themes: health and nutrition, education, agriculture and allied sectors, infrastructure, and social development.
The DM noted that under the Chief Minister’s guidance, Gorakhpur’s Bangsgaon block achieved 100% weightage in all five themes during the January-March 2026 quarter. This accomplishment underscores that Gorakhpur is setting new standards for inclusive development in the country.
Once facing challenges in the race for development, the Bangsgaon area has now emerged as a ‘model development block’ through its administrative efficiency and innovations.
This success not only enhances the reputation of Gorakhpur district but also serves as an inspiring example for other aspirational blocks in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Development Officer Shashwat Tripurari stated that the top ranking in the delta rankings is not just a statistic but a testament to the positive changes in the lives of Bangsgaon block residents.
He expressed happiness that the prize money will be utilized for development projects related to education, health, nutrition, agriculture, infrastructure, and livelihoods.
