Panaji, March 10 : There is a tight race between Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa according to the latest reports. According to the Election Commission, the BJP is leading on 18 seats, the Congress on 12 seats, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on 5, Goa Forward Party (GFP) on 1 and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on 1 and independents on 2. Among the important leaders, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is trailing in Sanquelim constituency, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat is leading in Margao constituency while in Panaji Atanasio Monserrate of BJP is also leading. There are 301 candidates from different political parties fighting for 40 seats in the legislative assembly. While counting of 19 constituencies is being held at Government Polytechnic College, Altinho, in Panaji, counting of 21 constituencies has been taken up at Comba, Margao, in South Goa. AKM ACL1044
