Goa Congress asks CM to cap fuel prices

Panaji, March 25 : Goa Congress on Friday asked acting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to cap petrol and diesel prices at Rs 80 per litre. “The most insensitive BJP Government is now continuing to push the comman man under huge financial burdens by rapidly increasing the petrol, diesel and gas prices. Goa acting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who announced BJP propoganda film Kashmir Files tax free must now show humane approach towards Goans and reduce the VAT to cap the petrol and diesel prices at Rs 80 per litre,” Congress General Secretary and Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao said. He asserted that it was shocking that the BJP government increased the LPG cylinder prices by Rs 50 and the petrol and diesel prices are also hiked for the third time in last four days. “Today prices are up by 80 paise per litre. This shows the complete inhumane approach of the most insensitive BJP government,” Alemao alleged. He warned the government not to play with the sentiments and emotions of the people. “We will strongly raise our voice in the upcoming Assembly Session,” he alerted. The MLA pointed out that Congress Party in its Manifesto titled “Roadmap to Goa Vision 2035” had promised the people of the state to cap the petrol and diesel prices at Rs 80 per litre. “Our senior leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram had done a proper study on the financial aspects before making this promise. It is possible to bring down the VAT and cap the prices, provided the government has a will and wish to help the people,” Alemao added. AKM JNA
