New Delhi, February 26: U.S. President Donald Trump recently claimed that he played a role in brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He suggested that without timely intervention, the situation could have escalated severely.
According to Trump, the tensions were so high that the life of Pakistan’s Prime Minister was at risk, potentially leading to a nuclear conflict. His remarks have sparked significant discussions in political circles.
In response, Indian Member of Parliament Ghulam Ali Khatana spoke with a news agency, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is rapidly progressing toward becoming the world’s third-largest power.
Khatana emphasized, “What others think or say about us matters little. We are an emerging power. Since Modi became Prime Minister, our farmers, startups, and stand-up initiatives have gained new opportunities and markets globally. We are unaffected by what anyone says about India.”
Regarding Modi’s proposed visit to Israel, Khatana noted that since Modi took charge, India’s acceptance in the international community, trade relations, and respect for Indian citizens have significantly increased.
He mentioned that whether it is Gulf countries, the European Union, the United States, or other developed nations, all have heightened expectations from India. Khatana also pointed out that India is the only country that views both Israel and Palestine with equal perspective and follows an independent foreign policy. He clarified that India does not need directives from anyone and establishes trade and diplomatic relations based on its national interests.
On the issue of Modi’s Israel visit, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, expressed concerns in a letter, suggesting that the trip might hurt the sentiments of some Muslims. Khatana responded by stating that representatives of any community should refrain from making statements that could lead to unnecessary disputes. He advocated for dialogue and peace as the path forward, urging all parties to exercise restraint.
Additionally, a case involving alleged mistreatment of Kashmiri Muslim students at a private university in Punjab has also come to light. Following accusations of mistreatment and threats related to special food arrangements during Ramadan, the university’s vice-chancellor was dismissed. Khatana remarked that every religion and tradition in the country should be respected.
He added that in today’s social media era, even minor incidents can quickly become public, so all institutions must act with sensitivity and understanding. He urged the Punjab government to take this matter seriously, asserting that every citizen of the country is equal, regardless of their religion or region.
