New Delhi, June 21: BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh has responded to various issues, including the India-EU trade agreement, controversies surrounding political slogans in Karnataka Congress, and comments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding Congress. He also addressed the social media debate between Congress leaders Pawan Khera and Shashi Tharoor concerning the PM-Trump meeting.
Vallabh emphasized that the India-EU trade agreement is the largest trade deal in the country’s history. He accused Congress of perpetuating a political culture that keeps power concentrated within a single family.
Regarding the trade agreement, Vallabh stated that it represents the most significant deal ever undertaken by India. He claimed that this agreement would impact nearly 2 billion people globally and account for about 25% of the world’s GDP. The combined economy of India and the EU is approximately $27 trillion. Key sectors in India, such as gems and jewelry, chemicals, engineering, and heavy engineering, are set to benefit significantly. Additionally, this deal opens up India’s vast consumer market of 1.4 billion people to European companies.
Vallabh criticized the previous UPA government, suggesting that this agreement should have been finalized during its tenure. He attributed the delay to a culture of procrastination and indecision. He asserted that the current government has finalized the deal, which will start benefiting the Indian economy next year and create new job opportunities.
On the internal conflict within Congress regarding political slogans supporting the Chief Minister in Karnataka, Vallabh stated that this highlights the party’s internal struggles and power battles. He sarcastically questioned whether anyone could imagine a political party president being upset over slogans in support of their own Chief Minister, suggesting that the president harbors ambitions for the Chief Minister’s position.
Vallabh humorously critiqued Congress’s internal structure, likening it to three holding companies and a subsidiary. He referred to them as ‘Congress M’ (Congress Mommy), ‘Congress P’ (Congress Priyanka), and ‘Congress R’ (Congress Rahul), with ‘Congress K’ (Congress Kharge) as the subsidiary. He expressed disbelief that the party president would react to slogans against their own Chief Minister, indicating a clear sign of leadership conflicts within Congress.
Supporting PM Modi’s allegations against Congress, Vallabh stated that the party’s agenda has never been about a united India. He argued that if Congress had such a vision, it would not have consented to decisions during the partition of the country. He claimed that Congress’s primary goal has been to maintain power within the Nehru-Gandhi family, showing little concern for India’s culture, civilization, or the common people.
Vallabh noted that history shows Congress has sidelined many capable leaders, using the party merely as a tool to secure family power.
In response to the social media debate between Congress leaders Khera and Tharoor regarding the PM-Trump meeting, Vallabh remarked that Khera was questioning an experienced leader like Tharoor on serious matters of foreign policy. He suggested that if some Congress leaders have issues with Tharoor’s views, they should direct their questions to the Gandhi family, which has remained silent on the matter. Vallabh claimed that this silence indicates acceptance of Tharoor’s opinions by the Gandhi family.
He concluded by advising Congress leaders to seek coaching from Tharoor before commenting on foreign policy, as those lacking a deep understanding of the subject risk making themselves the subject of ridicule.
