Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide vs Huawei Pura X Max: A Comparison of Dimensions

Mumbai, April 27: The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is making waves alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, with leaks revealing its unique design. This new variant aims to provide a tablet-like experience when opened, moving away from the tall, narrow layout Samsung has traditionally used. This change is not unexpected, as Huawei has already ventured in this direction with its Pura X lineup. With Apple’s foldable device rumored to launch later this year, Samsung is keen to innovate.

Tipster Ice Universe has shared detailed dimensions for the Z Fold 8 Wide. When unfolded, it measures 161.4 x 123.9 x 4.3 mm, while folded, its dimensions are 161.4 x 82.2 x 9.8 mm.

In comparison to Huawei’s Pura X Max, the differences are noteworthy. Samsung’s model is slightly narrower at 161.4 mm compared to Huawei’s 166.5 mm, but it is significantly thinner, especially when opened. The 4.3 mm thickness is impressive, and even in its folded state, it remains slimmer than Huawei’s 11.2 mm. This suggests that while the phone is expanding its usable screen space, Samsung is still prioritizing a manageable profile for users.

Display Ratios: A Closer Look

The inner screen of the Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to feature a near-square 4:3 aspect ratio, aligning more closely with typical tablet dimensions. The cover display is anticipated to have a 4.7:3 ratio, which should enhance usability compared to current Fold models.

The thinner design may improve handling and help the device stand out in a competitive market. However, it’s important to note that the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen will be slightly wider than those on the Huawei Pura X Max when streaming videos.

The Z Fold 8 Wide is anticipated to launch alongside the standard Fold 8 and the Z Flip 8, likely during Samsung’s summer event.
