New Delhi, May 15: The discussion around rising petrol and diesel prices is intensifying across the nation. Meanwhile, leaders from the BJP’s NDA coalition have stated that despite global crises and war conditions, efforts have been made to minimize the burden on the Indian public.
BJP Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Ali Khatana remarked that fuel prices in India have seen significantly lower increases compared to neighboring countries.
He stated, “In some countries, prices have surged by up to 25%, in others by 40%, and in some cases by 30%. This is a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s superior management skills, which have ensured that the burden on the public remains minimal.”
Khatana emphasized that Prime Minister Modi and the entire cabinet, particularly the Ministry of Energy, are continuously monitoring the situation to provide relief to the people.
He also mentioned that since 2014, India has carved out a distinct identity on the global stage. The country is now progressing towards becoming the world’s third-largest power, with investments pouring in from the European Union, the United States, Russia, and Middle Eastern nations. This shift is attributed to Modi’s foreign policy and leadership.
Rajya Sabha member Medha Kulkarni supported Prime Minister Modi’s appeal for ‘work from home’ and fuel conservation. She noted that the Prime Minister has made seven significant appeals to the citizens, as the entire world is currently facing a major crisis.
Kulkarni stated, “This is not just India’s problem. Many countries around the world are affected by this crisis. Keeping this in mind, the Prime Minister has called for public cooperation.”
Meanwhile, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary mentioned that the government made this decision under severe constraints and challenging circumstances. He explained, “Petroleum prices are rising globally, which is also driving inflation. There is ongoing conflict in the Gulf region, where oil supplies originate. This is impacting the entire world.”
Additionally, BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain noted that conflicts in the U.S., Iran, Israel, and the Gulf region are exerting pressure on oil and gas prices worldwide. He stated, “In many countries, fuel and gas prices have significantly increased, but in India, there has only been a rise of 3 rupees. The government is striving to lessen the burden on the common people.”
