Nawada, May 5: In a continued crackdown on active cybercriminals, police in Nawada, Bihar, have arrested four individuals involved in fraudulent loan schemes. Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Warisaliganj police station conducted a raid near the Chanpura Development Brick Kiln and close to the Durga Temple in Naromurari.
During the operation, authorities seized seven mobile phones, two pages of customer data, and a fingerprint machine from the suspects.
Interrogation revealed that the criminals obtained customer data under the pretense of providing loans. This data included personal information such as mobile numbers, names, and addresses. They would then contact these individuals, posing as loan providers, to defraud them.
The arrested suspects are Pintu Kumar Yadav (39), Suraj Kumar (27), Ankit Kumar (21), and Saurav Kumar (22). Two of the suspects are from Nawada, while the other two hail from Nalanda district. The police have registered a case against them and are conducting further investigations.
In light of this operation, the police have urged the public to remain vigilant. They advised individuals not to share personal or banking information with unknown callers. Additionally, they warned that offers of loans with very low interest rates or minimal documentation should be treated with caution, as they may indicate cyber fraud. Nawada police are now focused on identifying other members of this gang to effectively curb such scams.
