Former CM Digvijaya Singh to Visit Ram Temple in Ayodhya Today

Ayodhya, March 26: Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh is set to visit the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya today. This marks his first visit to the temple following the land worship ceremony.

According to his schedule, Singh will arrive at Ayodhya Airport at 9:40 AM. He plans to offer prayers at significant religious sites, including Hanuman Garhi, Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, and Kanak Bhawan.

This visit has reignited political rhetoric between the BJP and Congress, with leaders from both parties making sharp comments regarding the timing and purpose of Singh’s trip.

The BJP criticized Singh, stating that the Congress leadership was previously invited to the Ram Temple consecration ceremony but chose not to attend.

BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma, known for targeting Singh on issues related to Lord Ram, made a pointed remark. He urged Singh to pay tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives in 1992 during his visit to the Ram Temple.

Speaking to the media, Sharma stated that if the political leadership had understood the truth earlier, the Ram Temple would have been constructed years ago. He added, “Today, as you go to worship the same Ram Lalla your party once deemed imaginary, acknowledge that Ram Lalla is not a figment of imagination but a living reality.”

In response to the criticism, Congress leaders defended Singh, labeling the comments as politically motivated. Party spokesperson Jitendra Mishra emphasized that there is no need to question Singh’s faith and highlighted his contribution to the temple’s construction.

Mishra noted, “There is no need to prove Digvijaya Singh’s adherence to Sanatan traditions. BJP leaders should clarify what they have done for the public.” In 2021, Singh donated ₹1,11,111 for the construction of the Ram Temple, sending the check to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

He had previously stated that he would visit the temple once it was fully constructed. Meanwhile, Mahant Raju Das, the priest of Hanuman Garhi Temple, commented that those who once referred to Lord Ram as “imaginary” are now coming to the temple.

In a conversation, Raju Das remarked, “People used to say nothing has changed, that Prime Minister Modi has done nothing. However, the reality is that PM Modi has transformed hearts… Who is at the feet of Ramji today? Digvijaya Singh. Who is seeking refuge in Lord Ram? Those who once called him imaginary.”
