Five trekkers died on the Sahasratal trek, while 11 trekkers were airlifted

Uttarkashi : In Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, five out of the 22-member team on the Sahasratal trek have lost their lives. The bodies of these five trekkers have been recovered. Additionally, 11 trekkers have been safely airlifted.

Two trekkers are currently returning to Silla village from the base camp of Kush Kalyan through the pedestrian route with a local guide. It is being reported that four trekkers are still missing, and search operations are underway.

According to SDRF Commandant Manikant Mishra, the 22-member tracking team faced bad weather conditions on the Sahasratal trek, resulting in four fatalities and other members getting stranded in the high Himalayan trek route.

The information about this incident was received by SDRF from the Uttarkashi district on Tuesday evening. Upon receiving the information, the SDRF rescue team, along with other rescue units, conducted a joint rescue operation and successfully rescued 11 trekkers stranded on the Sahasratal trek via helicopter.

Eight trekkers were safely brought to Sahastradhara HeliPad and three were brought to Bhatwadi. Meanwhile, two trekkers are returning to Silla village from the base camp of Kush Kalyan through the pedestrian route with a local guide.
