Five Family Members Die in Truck-Car Collision in MP’s Chhatarpur

Chhatarpur, December 5 (Daily Kiran) – Five members of the same family died in a horrific road accident on Sagar-Kanpur Highway 34 in Madhya Pradesh‘s Chhatarpur district on Friday night. A speeding truck collided with a car near Mungwari and Chaupariya Sarkar villages in Badamalhra tehsil. Two people were injured in the accident and have been admitted to hospital in critical condition. Police reached the spot after receiving information and started investigating the matter.

According to information received from Gulgang police station, seven members of the Prajapati family from Nagaud in Satna were travelling to Shahgarh in Sagar in a Centro car bearing number MP 19 CA 0857 on Friday. Around 8 PM, the speeding car collided with a truck between Mungwari and Chaupariya Sarkar villages in Badamalhra tehsil. The car was travelling at such high speed that its front portion was completely destroyed after the accident. Five people died on the spot in the accident. Sagar IG Himani Khanna along with Gulgang police reached the spot immediately after receiving information. The bodies could be removed only after breaking the car doors. Two people were injured in the accident and are in critical condition. Both injured have been referred to the district hospital for treatment, where they are admitted in the ICU.

Gulgang police station in-charge Gurudatt Shesha said that a speeding car collided with an oncoming truck, killing five people. Seven people were travelling in the car. Two injured have been admitted to the district hospital. He said the deceased have been identified as Mahendra Prajapati (30), Lakshman Prajapati (40), Deepak Prajapati (24), Surendra Prajapati (26) and Lalu Prajapati (17). Two people, Bhupendra and Jitendra Prajapati, are in critical condition. After the accident, the truck driver fled with the vehicle. Police chased and caught him on Bijawar Road. He is currently being interrogated.

According to police, members of the Prajapati family from Satna were going from Chhatarpur to Shahgarh in two cars. All had come out to bring their sister from her in-laws’ house to her maternal home. One car had moved ahead, while the Centro car following behind became victim of the accident.
