Mumbai, Mar 15 : The city police has registered an FIR (first information report) against Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council, Pravin Darekar, for allegedly using bogus membership of a labour organisation to become director of Mumbai Bank, following a complaint by an Aam Aadmi Party functionary. The police action came yesterday (Monday) following a complaint filed on Jan 8, with the MRA Marg police station, by AAP activist, who accused Darekar of allegedly cheating people. Following this, the proceeding of the state Legislative Council was adjourned for the day on Tuesday, after an uproar over the issue. Interestingly, nearly four months earlier in Sep 2021, a Shiv Sena MoS Kishore Tiwari had filed a similar criminal complaint with the Ghatkopar police station, claiming that Darekar was “a ‘crore-pati’ labourer who had allegedly misdeclared his professional credentials in his election affidavits.
