Mumbai, March 15 : An FIR was registered against the Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Pravin Darekar for allegedly using a bogus membership with a labour organisation to get directorship at the Mumbai district cooperative Bank, police said on Tuesday. According to an official sources, that First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Police Station in south Mumbai following complaint by Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Dhananjay Shinde. BJP leader Darekar is accused of defrauding the government for nearly 20 years by contesting for the post of director of Mumbai Bank from the same category even though he is not a labourer. Speaking to reporters, Praveen Darekar said the case is politically motivated. Similarly, BJP leader Ashish Shelar also said the case was registered due to ‘political vendetta’. ST NV GK
