Tumakuru, May 18: A shocking murder case has emerged in Tumakuru district, Karnataka. Police have arrested a father for allegedly murdering his 17-year-old daughter.
The victim has been identified as Meghna, a resident of Nimbemardahalli village, located near the Kallambella police station. The accused father, Timma Rayappa, is 48 years old.
According to police reports, Timma Rayappa allegedly killed his daughter due to objections regarding her romantic relationship with a distant relative.
Investigators revealed that the father committed the crime on April 16 and buried Meghna’s body near a water source close to his farm. He later pretended to search for her, claiming she was missing.
Police conducted a thorough examination of the scene and gathered essential information. An autopsy will be performed in the presence of the Additional Commissioner and the Tehsildar.
Meghna was a student in the 11th grade. Authorities noted that she had a romantic relationship with a boy related to her mother, which her father vehemently opposed.
Reports indicate that her mother advised her to focus on her studies, wait until she turned 18, and complete her education before making any decisions about marriage.
Initial investigations revealed that Meghna had stopped attending college six months ago and had been staying at home. She had been missing since April 16. Despite inquiries from neighbors and relatives, the family could not locate her. Three days later, her mother filed a missing person report with the police.
After the complaint was lodged, the accused father reportedly left home, claiming he was going to search for his daughter. His prolonged absence raised suspicions, prompting Meghna’s mother to inform the police.
Upon returning to the village, police took Timma Rayappa into custody. During questioning, he initially claimed to have traveled to religious sites such as Tirupati and Dharmasthala. However, he later allegedly confessed to the crime.
