The pass is available only for private vehicles and, once purchased, is valid for one year. However, it is important to fulfil all conditions before availing this facility.
How Does FASTag Work?
FASTag is an electronic toll collection system operated by NHAI. It is installed on the vehicle’s windscreen. When the vehicle reaches the toll plaza, the tag is automatically scanned, and the fee is deducted from the linked bank account. The biggest advantage is that you do not need to wait in long lines, making travel easier and saving time.
The New FASTag Annual Pass
The new FASTag by NHAI will cost Rs 3,000 and will be valid for a full year, covering up to 200 toll trips. You can purchase it from the official NHAI website, the Highway Yatra App, or the MoRTH portal. For those who travel frequently, this pass can save considerable time and effort.
How Is It Different from Regular FASTag?
Regular FASTag requires frequent recharges, while for the annual pass, you pay Rs 3,000 once for the whole year. Regular FASTag works at all toll booths, but the benefit of the annual pass will be available only on NHAI highways and expressways.
