Farmers Celebrate MSP Increase for Kharif Season 2026-27

Banaskantha, May 14: The Central Cabinet’s Economic Affairs Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 crops for the Kharif season 2026-27. This decision has sparked joy among farmers across the country, particularly in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district.

Farmers view this increase as a fair valuation of their hard work. They believe that the rise in MSP will not only cover farming expenses but also strengthen their financial situation. Small and marginal farmers are expected to benefit the most from this decision, which will also promote the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds.

Local farmer Jagdish Patel expressed his optimism, stating, “The increase in MSP will greatly benefit us. When market prices are low, the government will purchase crops at the MSP, ensuring we gain from our efforts.”

Another farmer, Jayeshbhai, praised the initiative, saying, “Our country is built on agriculture. The increase in MSP by PM Modi is significant, with prices raised to one and a half times the production cost. The government has shown concern for small and marginal farmers through various schemes like crop insurance and the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. We are very grateful.”

Kirti Bhai Mewada added, “The increase in MSP is excellent for farmers. The central government is doing a commendable job, and farmers are very happy with this decision.”

Farmer Meghraj Bhai Patel welcomed the increase, stating, “The rise in MSP is very beneficial for us. We also request the government to purchase more crops from farmers.”

Farmers believe that this MSP increase will make farming more profitable and attractive, especially for those cultivating pulses and oilseeds. This step is another significant move towards farmer-friendly policies by the government.
