Kolkata, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : A man posing as a doctor has been arrested at Delhi Airport in connection with the tragic death of a four-year-old boy in West Bengal. The arrest was made on October 6, following a lookout notice issued by the Bengal police.
The suspect, identified as Sheikh Saidul Haque, allegedly performed surgery on the child at a hospital in the Nawabhat area of East Bardhaman. Unfortunately, the child died shortly after the operation. Following this incident, Haque went into hiding.
According to the police, the child’s family filed a complaint, prompting the issuance of the lookout notice. Reports indicate that Haque had fled to Dubai after the child’s death. He returned to India on Tuesday, where he was promptly arrested at the airport.
Delhi police later transferred Haque to West Bengal authorities. After completing necessary legal procedures, Bardhaman police escorted him back to Kolkata, arriving at the airport around 1:30 AM on Wednesday.
The investigation into the child’s death has raised questions about Haque’s qualifications as a doctor. Authorities are scrutinizing the circumstances surrounding the surgery and the legitimacy of his medical credentials.
In response to the arrest, the association of private hospitals and nursing homes expressed gratitude to the police. A member of the association stated, “We hope that following Saidul’s arrest, other fake doctors, including Zulfiqar and four others identified by us, will also be apprehended soon. We have complete faith in the police.”
