Gautam Buddh Nagar, April 17: A significant dialogue was held on Friday at the Greater Noida Authority premises under the “Nari Shakti Vandan Campaign,” aimed at realizing the vision of “Empowered Women, Empowered India.” Influential and esteemed women from society participated, sharing their thoughts, experiences, and suggestions on the theme of “Nari Shakti Vandan.”
Retired IAS officer Nivedita P. Harn, IBA Association Vice President Dr. Khushboo Singh, Advocate Kavita Nagar, Local Compliance Committee member Mala Bhandari, and Dr. Sapna, founder of the Vedika Foundation, addressed the gathering, elaborating on various dimensions of women’s empowerment. The speakers emphasized that women’s roles are rapidly expanding across all sectors, and providing equal opportunities is a necessity of our time.
During the event, the speakers highlighted the “Nari Vandan Act, 2023,” calling it a historic step towards women’s political empowerment. They explained that this law mandates a 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, along with sub-reservation for women from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. However, this provision will come into effect only after the completion of the census and delimitation process.
The speakers asserted that increasing women’s political participation will strengthen democracy. Their involvement in decision-making processes will lead to more inclusive and balanced policies, promoting gender equality and raising awareness of women’s rights.
Officials present at the event praised this initiative, stating that the “Nari Shakti Vandan Campaign” aims to empower and educate women. This campaign will not only make women aware of their rights but also provide them with leadership opportunities.
Among those present were Greater Noida Authority’s Additional Chief Executive Officer Shree Lakshmi V.S., OSD Archana Dwivedi, Gunja Singh, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Anuj Nehra, along with several other officials.
