In a touching video message, she described him as a cheerful, wise, and kind-hearted individual. Wright was a vital part of “The Ellen Show,” bringing the team together and leaving a significant impact on everyone involved.

DeGeneres shared that they were set to collaborate on a new project soon, highlighting the personal and professional bond they shared. “Matt Wright, our executive producer who often appeared on the show, passed away a few days ago. He was an incredible person, always making me laugh and surprising me with his work,” she recalled.

She emphasized Wright’s special place in their show, noting that he was universally loved. “Everyone adored him, and I loved him too. His passing is shocking. We were preparing to start a new project together, and he will be deeply missed. He was the glue that held ‘The Ellen Show’ family together and always will be,” she added.

DeGeneres extended her condolences to Wright’s husband, Justin, and their family, expressing that losing him feels like losing a truly good person. She also remembered his close friendship with the late DJ and executive producer Stephen “Twitch” Boss, stating, “Justin and his family have my deepest sympathy. We lost a wonderful human being. Matt and Twitch were great friends, and now they are dancing and laughing together.”
