The Election Commission has ordered re-polling at three booths in Agra due to reported irregularities during the initial voting.

Agra, October 25 (Daily Kiran) : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that re-polling will take place on October 26 at three polling booths in the Agra division for the Teacher Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections. This decision follows reports of alleged irregularities during the voting held the previous day.
In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, the ECI specified that re-polling will occur at booths numbered 20, 21, and 26 from 8 AM to 4 PM on Monday. The Commission has instructed the Chief Electoral Officer to ensure that individuals involved in any unlawful activities that led to the reported irregularities are not assigned to these polling stations during the re-poll.
Additionally, the ECI has requested a report from the divisional commissioner of Agra regarding the alleged negligence that necessitated the re-polling at these locations. The commissioner is tasked with determining accountability among all relevant personnel, including police and election officials, responsible for the situation.
The ECI’s letter emphasized the need to inform all stakeholders about the re-polling order at the three booths. It also called for widespread publicity about this decision throughout the electoral area, ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place within the stipulated timeframe.
During the re-polling, voters will have their right index fingers marked with indelible ink. The ECI stated that the counting of votes will only commence after the successful completion of the re-polling at the three booths in the Agra division.
