Mumbai, June 5: Actress and politician Smriti Irani and television queen Ekta Kapoor have once again showcased their unbreakable friendship, which spans over two decades.
On Thursday, Ekta Kapoor reshared a post from Smriti on her social media account, where Smriti extended her best wishes to Ekta for her new venture.
Expressing gratitude for Smriti’s affection, Ekta remarked that having Smriti by her side is a matter of pride. In her social media post, Ekta wrote, “My Tulsi, your support is a great pride for me,” accompanied by heart emojis.
In her post, Smriti praised Ekta, stating, “You have always shone brightly, Ekta Kapoor, and today you have given others the chance to shine as well… Congratulations on another success.”
Ekta addressed Smriti by her character’s name from the famous serial “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.” This show, produced by Balaji Telefilms, premiered in 2000 and became one of the most successful serials in Hindi television history. Smriti’s portrayal of Tulsi Virani is considered one of the most beloved characters on Indian television.
Over the past few years, Smriti and Ekta have expressed admiration and respect for each other through heartfelt posts on social media. On Ekta’s 50th birthday, Smriti penned an emotional note celebrating the producer’s contributions to Indian television and their long-standing friendship. However, reports suggest that their relationship has not always been smooth.
In the mid-2000s, during the golden era of “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” Smriti left the show temporarily due to creative differences. During her absence, actress Gautami Kapoor was brought in to portray the role of Tulsi Virani.
The second season of “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” premiered in August 2025, 25 years after the first season’s release in July 2000. Smriti Irani reprises her role as Tulsi, while Amar Upadhyay returns as Mihir.
