Eknath Shinde Chooses Commercial Flight for Delhi Trip Amid Fuel Conservation Appeal

Mumbai, May 19: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation amid the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde opted for a commercial Air India flight instead of his usual private jet for his scheduled trip to Delhi on Tuesday.

Shinde departed from Mumbai at 4 PM on an Air India flight. He is set to participate in a two-day special review meeting of the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0’ organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The Deputy Chief Minister will actively engage in the meeting on Wednesday. Known for frequently using private jets for official travel, Shinde’s decision to fly commercially this time reflects his commitment to the Prime Minister’s appeal.

According to a statement from the Deputy Chief Minister’s office, Shinde has been a leader in implementing environmentally friendly measures. He has previously initiated the use of electric vehicles, reduced the number of vehicles in his convoy, and cut down on helicopter trips.

By choosing a commercial airline over a private jet, Shinde has once again highlighted his dedication to practical and everyday actions that support the Prime Minister’s call for fuel conservation.

Upon arriving at Mumbai airport, Shinde received a warm welcome from citizens and fellow passengers. Many took photos with him, while others presented memorandums related to their grievances. Shinde engaged warmly with the crowd, accepting their greetings before boarding his flight.

In a related development, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar also utilized an electric vehicle for her daily commute on Tuesday, further reducing the number of vehicles in her convoy.

By adopting electric vehicles, Pawar has taken a significant step towards promoting green energy and encouraging an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Her actions send a clear message that, in light of the global energy crisis, fuel conservation and environmental protection are collective responsibilities for all citizens, and even small efforts can lead to meaningful change.
