Eastern Region an epicenter of Agriculture & food processing industry: T V Narendran

Kolkata, Mar 12 : T V Narendran, President CII, on Saturday said Eastern Region is an epicenter of Agriculture and food processing industry. He said it is imperative for the region to attract investment, which would happen when the government, society and industry work in tandem rather than demonizing each other. Speaking at the Annual Regional Meeting & Conference on Infrastructure, Investment, Image, Innovation and Inclusiveness of CII Eastern Region, Narendran pointed out the need for creating opport ties in education in the region. Chairman, Marketing Committees of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) Suhel Seth giving his perspective on the region stated that, East represents cerebral advantage foresight and vision, however, this part of the country has not been able to live upto its potential. Image is paradoxical to potential. Politics should be divorced from economic segment for the progress of the region, he added. He said it is important to tap people emotionally and create stories, people don’t want to be flooded with data. Debashis Sen, Managing Director, WBHIDCO Ltd & Additional Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal& Chairman, Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) said that the Government of West Bengal will convert Alipore Central Jail into independence museum. 10 eminent artists have been asked to paint themes from India’s freedom movement. He mentioned that 1 crore has already been received from Government of India. He also welcomed Entrepreneurs to invest in the energy project of the government.
