EAM calls on Maldivian President Solih, conveys greetings of Modi

Addu City (Maldives)/New Delhi, March 27 : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday called on Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohd Solih and conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Modi and also discussed the special bilateral partnership. In tweets, the EAM said: “An honour to be received by President @ibusolih of Maldives. Conveyed the personal greetings and good wishes of PM @narendramodi. “Discussed the special partnership between our two countries that has produced so many substantive outcomes during his tenure. “Privileged to join him in the inauguration shortly of the National College of Police & Law Enforcement (NCPLE). Underlines India’s strong support for law enforcement. “Ground-breaking of the Addu roads project, similarly emphasizes our development partnership.Also signed agreement for Addu reclamation and shore protection. “Handing over of coastal radar system strengthens the security of Maldives. Opening of the Drug Detoxification and Rehabilitation Centre reflects our P2P connect. “The new eco-tourism zone is a statement of our shared environmental commitment. “A good day for #IndiaMaldives development cooperation.” Earlier, the EAM visited the Addu Atoll Memorial where he laid a wreath to the Indian soldiers as homage. “From the pages of history, a visit to Gan. “Paid my homage to the Indian soldiers commemorated at the Addu Atoll Memorial.” On Saturday evening, the EAM and Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid had signed key agreements including the reciprocal recognition of Covid-19 vaccination certificate which will facilitate easier travel between Maldives and India as well as the Peering Agreement for connectivity between the Higher Education Network of Maldives and the National Knowledge Network of India.
