Dust Storms, Rain Hit 20 Rajasthan Districts: IMD Issues Weather Alert with Wind Speeds Up to 50 Kmph
Jaipur, April 11 A sudden shift in weather patterns continues to affect Rajasthan, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing alerts for 20 districts on Friday. The state is witnessing dust storms, scattered rain, and a noticeable drop in day and night temperatures by up to 3ยฐC, bringing temporary relief from the ongoing heatwave.
Gusty Winds, Cloudy Skies in Several Regions
On Thursday, multiple districts including Sikar, Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, and parts of Jaipur experienced strong winds and overcast conditions. In border areas near Delhi-NCR and Haryana, dust storms swept through post-noon, while late evening drizzle was reported in select areas adjoining Uttar Pradesh.
The IMD has forecast similar conditions for Friday afternoon, with wind speeds reaching up to 50 kilometers per hour, accompanied by light rainfall or drizzling in several parts of the state. The alert covers 20 districts, highlighting a brief but impactful weather system.
Temporary Relief from Scorching Heat
Thanks to this unseasonal weather, several regions recorded maximum temperatures below 40ยฐC for the first time in days. Jaipur, for instance, reported a high of 41.1ยฐC on Thursday, despite clear skies and strong sunshine throughout the day. More notable was the dip in nighttime temperatures, offering residents some much-needed comfort.
Cities such as Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Chittorgarh saw minimum temperatures fall below 25ยฐC. Jalore recorded the lowest at 20.5ยฐC, followed by Bhilwara at 22.5ยฐC and Jaisalmer at 24.9ยฐC. These drops suggest a temporary end to the extreme heat, although itโs not expected to last long.
Heatwave to Return by Mid-April
Meteorologists have warned that this cooler phase is short-lived. The current system influencing the weather is expected to dissipate by April 12. By April 14, hot winds and rising temperatures are likely to return, with a renewed spell of heatwave conditions projected across the state.
With Rajasthanโs weather oscillating between extremes, farmers and residents are advised to stay alert for sudden changes and take necessary precautions during dust storms and high winds.
