Dr. Rajnikant Praises PM Modi: Digital India and GI Tagging Transforming Indias Image

Bhubaneswar, May 27: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 12 years in office, Padma Shri Dr. Rajnikant, known as the ‘GI Man’, commended his leadership and governance style. He stated that under PM Modi’s guidance, India’s global identity has strengthened, and the country’s cultural heritage has gained international recognition.

Dr. Rajnikant highlighted that initiatives like Digital India, Vocal for Local, GI tagging, and various welfare schemes have empowered grassroots communities across the nation. In an interview with a news agency, he congratulated PM Modi on his 12-year tenure, emphasizing the Prime Minister’s crucial role in preserving India’s rich cultural heritage and establishing it on the global stage. He noted that the 1.4 billion citizens of India feel proud to have such fearless and visionary leadership, whose decisions will have a long-term impact on the country’s development.

He recalled his first meeting with PM Modi in 2014, which led to ongoing dialogue. Dr. Rajnikant mentioned that he had requested the Prime Minister to promote GI-tagged products from various parts of the country, including Kashi, on the global stage. Recently, during a five-nation tour, PM Modi presented over 20 GI products as gifts to various heads of state, showcasing an extraordinary example of India’s branding that provides employment and recognition to millions of artisans, weavers, craftsmen, and farmers.

Dr. Rajnikant also praised the development initiatives in Varanasi, stating that PM Modi has transformed the city. Previously, residents expressed dissatisfaction due to a lack of cleanliness and basic amenities. Today, significant changes are evident throughout the city, including at Namoh Ghat. He noted improvements in cleanliness, facilities for women, and better transportation systems, making Varanasi a world-class religious tourism hub. The time taken to reach the city from the airport has significantly decreased, and modern facilities like a ropeway are under development.

He emphasized that PM Modi’s focus extends beyond Varanasi to the development of various states, including Odisha, where local art, crafts, heritage, and cuisine are receiving new recognition. Dr. Rajnikant described PM Modi as a diligent and visionary leader, commending his efforts.

Regarding the development of religious sites from Somnath to Vishwanath, Mahakal, and Baba Kedarnath, Dr. Rajnikant stated that PM Modi is working to restore the glory of India’s ancient culture. He drew parallels to ancient philosopher Chanakya’s principle of prioritizing the nation, noting that PM Modi is advancing the country with the same spirit. According to him, religious sites are no longer just centers of faith but are also creating new opportunities for tourism and employment, marking significant steps toward sustainable development.

Dr. Rajnikant pointed out that initiatives like Digital India, the Ujjwala scheme, and Make in India have accelerated the country’s growth. He remarked that PM Modi’s governance is based on transparency. During challenging times like the COVID pandemic and demonetization, the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system eliminated intermediaries, allowing government benefits to reach people’s bank accounts directly. Today, the world is embracing India’s digital model.

Discussing the mantra of self-reliant India and local to global, he noted that GI tagging has given indigenous products recognition in the global market. GI tags ensure that products are associated with their respective states and regions. He referred to PM Modi as the biggest brand ambassador for GI tags, stating that his efforts are enabling Indian products to reach global markets with legal protection.

Regarding the Padma Shri award, Dr. Rajnikant mentioned that individuals working for society and the nation without publicity are now being honored. He expressed that he never imagined receiving the Padma award. Under PM Modi’s system, anyone can nominate a deserving individual for the award. He shared that he was unaware of who nominated him until he learned of his name on the award list at midnight on January 25, which left him emotional as he thanked God and PM Modi.
