New Delhi, February 25: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tooti, IPS, chaired a Crime and Security Review Meeting in Doda district on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by DIG DKR Range Shridhar Patil, IPS, among other officials. It took place at the District Police Office (DPO) in Doda, where a thorough assessment of the current law and order situation, crime trends, and the overall security grid was conducted.
The meeting included SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), SDPO, SHOs, and other supervisory officers. SSP Doda presented a detailed PowerPoint on the district’s crime profile and security scenarios. This review covered pending cases, disposal rates, and the status of cases under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act, UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act), and other serious crimes. The IGP issued strict directives to expedite investigations, increase conviction rates, and closely monitor anti-social and anti-national elements.
During the security framework review, the IGP emphasized the need for better coordination among agencies, increased night patrols, and effective control over vulnerable and sensitive areas. He highlighted the necessity for intelligence-based operations and a robust anti-terrorism stance. The IGP stated that any disruption to peace and public order would not be tolerated.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, cattle smuggling, and organized crime, he instructed officials to take stringent action against these activities, ensuring that offenders are not spared at any cost. Additionally, he stressed the importance of strengthening community policing, building trust between the police and the public, and enhancing outreach efforts. The IGP emphasized that the police’s role extends beyond merely preventing crime; it also involves creating a secure and trustworthy environment in society.
Commending the Doda police, the IGP urged officials to continue their work with professionalism, integrity, and dedication. He noted that the police’s role in challenging areas like Doda is crucial. During the meeting, merit certificates were awarded to police stations that excelled based on their crime performance in 2025. This initiative aims to boost morale among police personnel and encourage improved performance.
