Chennai, May 20: DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan addressed several pressing issues, including actor Vijay’s absence from the Kerala Chief Minister’s swearing-in ceremony, ongoing internal conflicts within the AIADMK, and comments made by superstar Rajinikanth regarding Chief Minister MK Stalin and Vijay.
When questioned about Vijay’s non-attendance, Elangovan stated, “I don’t know if he fears the BJP or not, as this was a Congress event. Vijay should be asked about this.”
On the topic of appointing individuals from the film industry as ministers, Elangovan emphasized the need for knowledgeable people in government. He remarked, “There should be someone in the ministry who understands the film industry to improve this sector. Perhaps that is the reason.”
Regarding the AIADMK’s internal strife, particularly the SP Velumani faction’s call for a general body meeting, Elangovan noted that this conflict has been ongoing for a long time. He accused the AIADMK leadership of resisting the re-inclusion of senior leaders.
“They fear that if the old senior leaders return, their positions will be at risk. This clearly indicates that the party leadership is weak, which is causing continuous fragmentation,” he asserted.
In response to Rajinikanth’s remarks about Stalin and Vijay, Elangovan stated that there was nothing wrong with the comments. “Rajinikanth is a close friend of Stalin. If someone from the film industry enters politics, he will certainly wish them well,” he added.
Elangovan also dismissed speculations about a potential coalition between the DMK and AIADMK. He firmly stated, “We are the biggest opponents of AIADMK in this state. How can we align with them just because of one election? I have no information on that.”
