Chennai, February 22: As the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approach, the ruling DMK is set to initiate a grassroots outreach campaign. Starting Monday, the women’s wing will conduct door-to-door canvassing to connect with voters.

On Sunday, Geetha Jeevan, the Minister for Social Welfare and Women’s Empowerment, addressed party workers. She emphasized that this campaign will cover all assembly constituencies and is a crucial part of the party’s election strategy.

Geetha recalled the performance of party workers during the recent Lok Sabha elections, where the DMK successfully aimed to win all 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. She stated, “Just as we succeeded in the parliamentary elections, we must now focus on the assembly elections with the same determination. The women’s wing should lead by establishing direct contact with the people through door-to-door outreach.”

She urged workers to inform voters about the state government’s welfare schemes and developmental achievements during their conversations.

Citing statistics released by the central government, she highlighted Tamil Nadu’s leadership in sectors such as electronics exports, industrial development, and women’s employment.

The minister also stressed the importance of key initiatives like the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam housing scheme and subsidies for farmers purchasing tractors. She noted that informing the public about these schemes and clarifying their benefits will strengthen public support.

Outlining the operational plan for the campaign, Geetha suggested that small teams of five members could start outreach efforts in their respective areas. She recommended conducting the campaign between 5 PM and 7 PM, when most residents are likely to be at home.

With the DMK intensifying preparations for the assembly elections and focusing on grassroots support through direct voter engagement, the door-to-door campaign is expected to gain momentum in the coming weeks.
