New Delhi, August 31: A shocking incident has unfolded in the capital, New Delhi, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped on a sleeper bus. The police have arrested the bus driver and conductor in connection with this case.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of August 4 in the Kashmiri Gate area. The victim, a resident of Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh, is a student in the 11th grade.
According to police sources, the girl left home without informing her family due to a disagreement and was heading to visit her cousin in Noida. Due to heavy rain and darkness, she mistakenly got off at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. At that moment, an empty sleeper bus passed by. She signaled for the bus to stop, and the driver and conductor allowed her to board, claiming they were heading to Noida Sector 63.
Allegations state that shortly after the bus began moving, the conductor started making inappropriate advances towards her. The victim reported that both the driver and conductor then raped her, threatening her life if she resisted. They abandoned her late at night near the Ring Road close to the Kashmiri Gate bus terminal before fleeing the scene.
In a state of panic, the girl contacted the Kashmiri Gate police and reported the entire incident. The police apprehended both suspects from a bus parking area in Timarpur. They have also seized the sleeper bus involved in the crime and are conducting a forensic investigation.
Police sources revealed that the accused had taken the bus for repairs at a workshop in Surajpur after it broke down. After the repairs, the driver and conductor were returning with the empty bus when they encountered the girl at Pari Chowk. The journey from Pari Chowk to Kashmiri Gate covered approximately 47 kilometers, and due to the sleeper design and curtains, no passerby could see inside the bus.
