District Water and Sanitation Committee Meeting Held
Udaipur, January 28: The District Water and Sanitation Committee convened a meeting on Tuesday under the direction of District Collector Arvind Poswal at the Mini Conference Hall of the Collectorate.
Ravindra Chaudhary, Superintendent Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, welcomed the attendees and outlined the agenda for discussion. The meeting focused on the progress and approval status of projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Udaipur district.
It was revealed that out of 1,879 villages across 14 panchayat committees in the district, approvals have been granted for 1,806 villages, while 66 villages are deemed non-feasible. Additionally, five villages are benefiting from the Urban Water Scheme Udaipur, and one village, Kherwada Cantonment, is being supported through an earlier plan. The proposal for another village, Devla, is currently in progress.
To benefit 323,938 families in 1,385 villages under the broader project, a sanctioned amount of โน2,234 crore was allocated. Out of this, tenders have been invited for 1,370 villages, and work orders worth โน1,613.08 crore have been issued for 1,130 villages, benefiting 272,452 families. These projects are actively underway.
The committee also emphasized ensuring the supply of clean drinking water and directed periodic testing of water samples in the district. Discussions were held on providing tap connections in schools, Anganwadi centers, health centers, and villages. Topics included the operation and maintenance of single-village schemes under JJM, construction of recharge structures for water sources, โHar Ghar Jalโ certification, and the selection of โJal Mitrasโ by gram panchayats as per prescribed guidelines.
Key officials present at the meeting included Executive Engineer Lalit Nagori, Executive Engineer DRD Ritesh Meena, and other departmental officers.
