Bhopal, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : A private hospital in Bhopal has come under fire for significant discrepancies in employee numbers related to the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This revelation emerged from an investigation conducted by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on October 5, 2026.
Sources indicate that to qualify for inclusion in the Ayushman Bharat scheme, hospitals must maintain a specific number of staff, including doctors. However, the hospital in Karound reported three times the actual number of employees on its online portal, despite not meeting the required threshold.
Upon investigation, the EOW found that the hospital employed only 15 unique staff members, even though their names appeared multiple times in the records. The total count claimed by the hospital was inflated to 45, with the same names repeated. Alarmingly, the contact numbers listed next to these names were reportedly those of the hospital’s operator.
When the EOW requested documentation regarding employee lists, contracts, salaries, and attendance, the hospital management failed to provide satisfactory information. Moreover, some doctors listed in the hospital’s records were found to be associated with other facilities, denying any connection to the hospital in question when contacted by the EOW.
Additionally, the hospital has been conducting pathology services without the necessary licenses. The doctor whose signature and seal are used to validate reports has also denied having any association with the issued documents.
This investigation sheds light on potential malpractice within the healthcare facility, raising serious questions about its operations and compliance with national health schemes.
