Chandigarh, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : The director of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, Professor Vivek Lal, visited a six-year-old girl receiving treatment at the facility. The girl was reportedly assaulted on October 28 at a school in Panchkula.

During his visit, Professor Lal spoke with the medical team caring for the child to gather updates on her health and recovery. He expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident and reassured the family that the institution would provide all possible assistance for the girl’s recovery.

In a significant humanitarian gesture, he ordered that the girl’s medical treatment be provided free of charge, with all expenses covered by PGIMER. Additionally, the institute has arranged for her to stay in a private room, ensuring she receives comfort, privacy, and proper care during her hospital stay.

Professor Lal emphasized that PGIMER’s responsibility extends beyond just providing medical treatment; it also includes standing by patients and their families during difficult times. The six-year-old was admitted to PGIMER with serious injuries after being allegedly attacked by an eight-year-old boy inside a classroom. She was referred to this leading medical institution in Chandigarh for advanced treatment.

Currently, a team of specialists is closely monitoring her condition and providing all necessary medical attention. Following the director’s visit, the family was assured that they would continue to receive medical and other forms of support throughout the girl’s treatment.
