Kolkata, May 6: Dilip Ghosh, the victorious candidate from the Khargpur Sadar constituency representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has sharply criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her refusal to step down. He emphasized that political positions are temporary and urged Banerjee not to be under any illusions.
In a response to questions about Banerjee on Wednesday morning in Newtown, Ghosh stated, “Everyone must eventually leave this world. Political positions are only for a limited time. This chair is temporary, so there should be no misconceptions. It is not anyone’s inherited property.”
Ghosh further remarked that the people of West Bengal have given Banerjee 15 years, during which she has done nothing but foster violence and corruption. He noted that life for the citizens has become increasingly difficult under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regime. He referenced a recent incident involving a doctor who was a victim of rape and murder, stating that justice was not served, and TMC leaders disrespected the victim’s mother. “The public has not forgotten these issues,” he asserted.
The BJP leader added that the world is indifferent to what Mamata Banerjee claims; instead, they should listen to what he has to say.
Suvendu Adhikari, the newly elected BJP MLA, had his father, Shishir Adhikari, speak to IANA, stating, “Support from the people is essential. If you stand with them, victory is assured. We won because we stood by them. We have always said that TMC would become irrelevant.”
Shishir Adhikari also mentioned that Banerjee was barred from entering the Jagannath Temple in Odisha, prompting her to construct a cultural center in Digha using government funds. “Lord Jagannath has responded to this,” he concluded.
