‘Dharmaveer… Thane’ to release May 13

Thane, April 16 : A film on Thane strongman, late Anand Dighe, “Dharmaveer M(ukkam) P(ost) Thane” is set to release on May 13. Dighe was a popular leader in the district. The teaser of the film is out on social media. Shiv Sena leader, Dighe, was born in January 1952, and strived for the growth of the party in Thane and surrounding areas. His popularity was unchallenged among the deprived comm ties and “they regularly visited him at the Anand Ashram 24×7 to seek help”. Their prayers were always readily answered by Dighe. He was considered to be the blue-eyed boy of Shiv Sena supremo, the late Balasaheb Thackeray, who “gave him preferential treatment in anything and everything”. Dighe also conducted a parallel “durbar”to resolve the issues faced by the citizens. People who did not not get justice anywhere else approached him. Popular among the children, he used to distribute cricket kits every year. The film presented by Zee Studios traces his life and journey. It was during his Ganesh Chaturthi in the town that he met with an accident, and died on August 26, 2001. The film is produced by Mangesh Desai’s Sahil Motion Arts and Zee Studios and directed by Praveen Vitthal Tarde. Prasad Oak plays the lead role. XR NV ING
